Beaver Dam Lake Improvement Association: Hlk-Beaver Dam Healthy Lake: Beaver Dam Lake District will implement best practices described in Wisconsin\2019s 2014-2017 Healthy Lakes Implementation Plan. Practices include: 350 ft2 native plantings, rain gardens, rock infiltration practices, and diversion practices on 5 lakeshore properties, including the City of Beaver Dam\2019s Edgewater Park.
The best practices require a contract to remain in effect for 10 years and must include minimum operation and maintenance requirements and data collection as described in grant condition #17. If best practice(s) are implemented on land owned by the grant Sponsor, this Lake Protection Grant Agreement serves as the contract. If best practice(s) are implemented on land other than the sponsor\2019s, a contract between the sponsor and landowner that abides by grant condition #16 is required.
The Department may require re-payment of project installation costs if the best practice is disturbed or removed. The Sponsor and/or the Department may perform site inspections and/or monitoring to ensure project success.

Dane County Parks: Acq-Fish And Mud Lakes-Marx Acquisition: The Marx property has already been purchased by Dane County. The property will protect the majority of the Mud Lake shoreline, which is connected to Fish Lake, a very important resource in NW Dane County. Dane County: Acq-Indian Lake - Matz Acquisition: Dane County Parks will acquire 40.23 acres located adjacent to Indian Lake. The acquisition will prevent land use development and maintain a buffer of upland and wetland to filter contaminants from entering Indian Lake. The property also contains wetlands and springs that feed Indian Lake.

City Of Middleton: Lmi-Pheasant Branch Watershed - In Lake Mendota Priority Watersh: The City of Middleton will contract with the U.S. Geological Survey to monitor and model the surface and groundwater flow within a portion of the Pheasant Branch watershed to locate effective combination of storm water treatment and control sites within the North Fork to mitigate the impacts of urbanization on the quality and quantity of water reaching Lake Mendota. Activities of the project include developing a surface and groundwater model based on existing data, collecting various field data for model inputs (including monitoring precipitation and flow discharge) refine the model and calibrate it to field measurements, calculate present and future pollution loads, and conduct analyses to accomplish the project objectives. Dane County Parks: Aulik Acquisition-Patrick Marsh: Dane County will acquire acreage within Patrick Marsh, a DNR and Dane County project area that is identified in both the Land Legacy Report and the Dane County Parks and Open Space Plan. The Aulik property is approximately 11.6 acres along the southern shore of Patrick Marsh. The acquisition of this property will protect and enhance this natural resource site.

Village Of Mazomanie: Lmi-Lake Marion Family Recreational Fishery: The Village of Mazomanie will complete a large, multi-faceted lake restoration project on Lake Marion by installing an access sign at the boat landing, installing an aeration system, stocking fish, placing habitat structures on the bed, and reconfiguring and restoring large lengths of shoreline consistent with department recommendations. The boat landing access sign will explicitly reflect the Village ordinance allowing non-motorized boat use of the lake. Current steep shorelines will be graded to provide a healthy diversity of habitat, dead trees will be introduced and anchored to shore, and trees, shrubs and understory natives will be planted. Water quality will be monitored to track lake improvements. Project updates will be shared via social media, press releases, public meetings, and community volunteer workdays and celebration. The deliverable will be evidence that the workshop was planned, evidence that groups participated in the event, and 2500 copies of the in-depth "State of Dane County Waters" document.
